Desert Breeze is a family run farm specializing in the care and welfare of alpacas and llamas.  In addition to alpacas and llamas, we also have mini donkeys, geese, guinea hens, and an assortment of dogs and cats.

We get our grain and feed primarily from Colorado farms where they specialize in orchard, timothy and various mixtures of hay feed.

Every effort is made to tame our alpacas and llamas for ease in handling during maintenance like shearing, toe trimming and teeth work.

Our herd sires are of excellent quality and have been bred in southern California, Kingman, Concho, & Snowflake Arizona.

We have been in the alpaca business since February 2002. We began our project with two pet quality males (to see if this was something we wanted to pursue) and a female llama. During 2002 we purchased four pregnant females and in 2003, two more. Our herd has grown and expanded ever since.

We have studied, gone to seminars and clinics for all kinds of information including a tax seminar for farms, Marty McGee Bennett handling clinics, and ‘the right start’ seminar Santa Ynez, California taught by Mike Safely. We have made every effort to have on hand all kinds of informational books on birthing and maintenance for these animals.

At the farm presently we have 57 alpacas, 6 llamas, 3 mini donkeys, a flock of guinea hens and geese, along with an assortment of dogs and cats. We invite and encourage visits from people who are curious or interested in the alpaca business. We look forward to the ‘meet and greet’ part of this business and love to show off the alpacas.

Most of our animals are very easy to handle and have been halter trained. Many are presently being shown in a variety of shows for 2008 and many are pregnant. We broker animals for a variety of clients for 10% of the sales cost.

Our farm is a constant building and re-building project in order for the animals as well as ourselves to be more comfortable. During the 2008 year we expect 19 cria and have many animals for sale.
