We board and care for more than 60 animals at our farm, 38 of whom are agisted animals belonging to other owners at the time of this writing. We provide the daily maintenance required, yearly shearing, and halter training when needed.
Every effort is made to work hands on with agjisted alpacas for ease in handling during maintenance like shearing, toe trimming and teeth work. We get our grain and feed primarily from Colorado farms where they specialize in orchard, timothy and various mixtures of hay feed.

Agistment fees are based on a per animal cost and can be negotiated if there are a number of animals for one ranch. All vet and/or shots and pastes are charged at a minimum cost.

The alpacas are always kept in adequate corrals with shelters available. Feeding is done in multiple feed pans and feeders and cleanup and maintenance is done daily on all the pens.

We spend a great deal of time with the animals. All maintenance of the farm, pens and animals is done by us. We talk to them, admire their fleece, and generally lavish affection on all the alpacas at our ranch.

Female alpacas boarded at Desert Breeze are re-checked periodically for pregnancy via both spit test and Preg-Tone. When females are close to delivery we make it a point of being on alert throughout the night as well as day time hours.

We stay in contact with all of our clients, whether their animals are kept at our farm or sent home for the remainder of the pregnancies. We keep an accurate listing of cria born to our herd sires both on and off the property to monitor male-female birth ratios.

We have a set fee for normal birthings at our farm: $200. This includes mother watch, mother & cria care, ADE shots, Bo-Se shots, and an enema at 24 hrs old. Cria coats are used if the weather is cold and we have a barn room we can put mother and cria in if the weather is extreme.

We have a vet who lives within 2 miles of us who has been extremely helpful with any issues from health certificates, to birthing, blood draws and other miscellaneous items.
